Mahakumbh 2025: A Grand Start at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj
The Mahakumbh, a sacred event held every 12 years, commenced on the banks of the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on Monday and will continue until February 26. According to official estimates, around 1.75 crore devotees participated in the holy dip on the inaugural day. By the evening of Makar Sankranti, the first ‘Amrit Snan’ witnessed approximately 3.5 crore devotees taking a sacred bath at the Sangam, as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared.

The third and final Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025 is scheduled for February 3, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. On this day, devotees honour Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and wisdom. Bathing in the sacred river, accompanied by acts of worship and charitable donations, holds immense spiritual significance during Basant Panchami.
