What is PSL
The Pakistan Super League (PSL), also referred to as the HBL PSL due to sponsorship arrangements, is a Twenty20 cricket league for men featuring six franchise teams based in different cities. Established in 2015 by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the league differs from traditional setups as it operates under a single-entity model, where each franchise is owned and managed by investors rather than existing as independently owned teams.
In the group stage, every team competes in a double round-robin format, playing against each other twice. The top four teams with the highest points advance to the playoffs, ultimately leading to the final match.
The league has completed eight seasons thus far. Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars, having each won the title twice, stand as the most successful teams in the tournament. Notably, Lahore Qalandars, the reigning champions, hold the distinction of being the only team to successfully defend their title by winning the 2023 season.

Pakistan Super League 2024
From February 17th to March 18th, the league will culminate with its final match.
During the league stage, each team will compete in ten double round-robin matches. Following the conclusion of this stage, the top two teams in the points standings will compete in a qualifier, with the winner advancing to the final.
The first eliminator will feature the teams that finished third and fourth in the league stage. The winner of this match will vie for a spot in the final against the loser of the qualifier. Below are the teams participating in PSL 2024:

PSL Establishment
In September 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Board officially announced the launch of the PSL. Former Pakistani national team captains Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja signed up to promote the PSL, and the launch of the PSL was officially announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board in September 2015.
Former Pakistani national team captains Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja were enlisted to endorse the PSL and serve as brand ambassadors for the league for three years.
PSL Profits
In May 2016, the PCB declared that the inaugural season of the PSL had generated profits amounting to US$2.6 million.
During the 2022 edition, which took place entirely in Pakistan, PCB chairman Ramiz Raja disclosed a 71% increase in the PSL’s profits, with each franchise receiving Rs. 900 million (US$3.1 million) in revenue before the start of the season.
The 2023 edition saw revenue exceeding Rs. 5 billion, sourced from multiple channels such as broadcasting rights, title sponsorship, gate receipts, and other associated rights.
