Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat delivered a thrilling performance, defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Livach 7-5 in the women’s 50 kg freestyle quarterfinal to advance to the semi-finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Competing in her third Olympics, Vinesh is now just one win away from securing a medal at the Summer Games in Paris. Earlier today, she showcased her prowess by defeating Tokyo 2020 champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the round of 16.

In the quarter-final match, Vinesh took an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Although Livach mounted a strong comeback in the second period, Vinesh skillfully held her ground and outscored her opponent.

Next, Vinesh will face either Cuba’s Pan American Games champion Yusneylis Guzman Lopez or Gabija Dilyte of Lithuania in the semi-finals, set to take place today at 9:45 PM IST at the Champ-de-Mars Arena.
